From 1965 (tokens commemorating 1966/5726) onwards, Seasons Greetings tokens were mailed by the IGCMC to its customers, either in a small simple paper envelope, or loose; in varying states of quality and appearance. Many brass and cu-ni issues have a distinct 'circulated' appearance. Hence, quality and appearance of Seasons Greetings tokens will accordingly vary per year of issue, and they are supplied loose.

(*) The actual issue date of all tokens is in the preceding year, usually a few weeks before Rosh Hashana - the Jewish New Year (August-September).
Hence, the token commemorating 2000/5760 was issued during 1999, etc.

The Carmelit funicular subway was opened in 1956. Initially both tokens were used simultaneously to reflect a two-zone fare system. The brass 'Hadar' token was good for a basic ride between downtown Haifa and the Hadar HaCarmel shopping area. The 'Carmel' cu-ni token was used for the ride further up Mount Carmel. When the entire city became a single fare zone, only the brass 'Hadar' token remained in use. In 1980, upon the introduction of the 'old' Sheqel currency system instead of the Lira, the 10 New Agorot coin KM-108 (a mere fraction of the cost of the fare!) could be used to activate the turnstiles. The brass 'Hadar' token was hastily withdrawn and the cu-ni 'Carmel' token reintroduced. In the early 1980's, an additional quantity of cu-ni tokens was minted, this time inscribed 'Carmelit'. The entire system was closed down in 1986 due to safety hazards. When reopened in 1992 after complete refurbishment, the token turnstiles were replaced by those accepting and cancelling paper tickets. No tokens were recalled from the public. Very few remained outstanding, however, as token vendors did not sell more than a few pieces at a time, out of fear of hoarding during the 1980's period of hyper-inflation and frequent price hikes.

Haifa subway tokens are supplied loose, in varying grades of circulation ('Average Circulated').
